NU Faq
What can I study at the NU?
At the moment, the NU has two campusses - the principal campus in Irrel, Batavia (lessons in Dutch) and the International Campus at Iban, Mayo (lessons in English). Subjects are related to three academic domains: Political and Social Science, History and Economics, thus covering the fields of politics, sociology, history and economy. For a complete oversight of all courses and their credit points, look in the brochure ‘Courses at the NU‘. We currently only offer one program that leads to a degree: B.A. in Political Science. Students are free to follow individual courses, however.
How do I graduate in Political Science?
By graduating for courses worth 30 credit points in total, whereof at least 16 at the faculty of Political Science.
How do I enroll?
Three options:
- Standard Trajectory Enrollment (STE): 1250 Kruys, you can follow all courses that are taught in two consecutive terms (one term = 4 months). You can participate at all examinations.
- Personal Credit Enrollment (PCE): 25 Kruys per credit point, you enroll for specific courses and may follow them and participate at their examinations in two consecutive terms.
- International students (persons originating from non-Dutch speaking nations) can freely follow lessons at the International Campus of the New University (ICNU) via the In Search of Excellence Program (ISEP), financed by the government of Mayo. Apply here.
How is the academical year structured?
Each year, a different combination of courses are taught at the NU. Courses that are already taught before will remain available. The year is divided into three periods:
- Autumn semester: September – December
- Spring semester: February – May
- Summer university: July - August
In which languages are the lessons taught?
